I recently threw away a 486, and am now regretting it.  But, it looks
like I will soon have a P166 to takes it's place.  Want to see if take
will let me take a corner of his shop, then I'll put the machine there
to work on my new guitar effects project, and my new desktop mixer
project[1].

I get the impression that teachers better understood the Apple IIs.
For one thing, it was as easy as just powering off, putting a
different disk in, then powering back up.  And the educational
software was clearly marketed and easy to evaluate.  Now, this isn't
my field, but I get the impression that this is no longer the case.
And further that old style of things wouldn't really cut it for
highschoolers.  But, other than in use classes (and let us not forget
administrative use), what do schools really need computers for?

[1] I have a parts list drawn up for a starter oscillator for testing
purposes drawn up, and I get everything buy a 0.022uF cap from radio
shack.  For the desktop mixer, I can again get everything from radio
shack, unless I want stereo faders instead of mono pots (I think I'll
do a limited version with pots first though).  I'm having more trouble
finding the case I want for the effects rack.  I found a british
company with them, but they don't seem to want to ship here, and the
leads DaveM gave me aren't turning up and project cases meant to be
mounted in a 1U or 2U rack space.
