Don't know about the US, but here the people with
political/business/whatever power have always been the "respectable"
ones, line their own pockets, and don't really *do* anything.
"They leave us pride in our work, so we don't paint the walls with
their blood".
About this time last year, I returned to work after being off sick for
3 months to discover my boss was now off sick. The team I work in was
left without management for nearly 6 months ... functioned perfectly
well without it, and we no longer had to spend an hour a week
accounting for our time.

Suits are suits whatever their colour.

And will probably stay that way ... especially with the bad reputation
of Communism/Anarchism/Socialism (which are in some ways about getting
rid of PHB's).
