Because over the years we (the general American public) have GIVEN them
the power. Suits make the laws and interpret them, and "defend" us when
we have to face those laws. Yes, I'm equating business suits with law
suits, because they're all so interconnected it's impossible to tell
them apart from here. The business guys work with the legal teams to
create systems that let them do what they want. And that's the way it
is.
