I would take exception to one small point - I *much* prefer local politicos running my school board/public education, than a centralized state or federal body.

I want the education provided in my school district to reflect the beliefs and stnadards of my community, not of the country as a whole.

It is much easier for any special interest to subvert the thinking of one centralized governing body than it is to subvert the the thinking of a thousand local school boards.

I suspect this is a widely-held belief, or would be if more people thought along these terms...

Yes, I know that this would really upset the immoral minority of religious
nutcases.  That's a good reason to not allow local politics into school
administrations :-)
