Hi,

You can find this trick in google almost anywhere.

Best wishes

insert solaris 8 or 9 software 1 of 2 into cd drive

at ok prompt

boot cdrom -s

when at # prompt

type fsck -F ufs -y /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0

mount /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 /mnt

cd /mnt/etc

setup vi

TERM=sun
export TERM

or if using a vt100

TERM=vt100
export TERM

vi /mnt/etc/shadow

remove root password inbetween the colons ::

save file

init 6

root now has no passwd
