Hello,

the syslog service doesn`t allow blanks in the file /etc/syslog.conf. You
just have to use tabs. If you have used the spacebar when editing the file
there might accure
strange behaviours of the syslog: some facility-level combinations work some
doesn`t. You should try the following:

- look for spacebars, delete them and work with tabs
- then create the log file (if it isn`t there)
- pkill -HUP syslogd
- logger -p facility.level
- cat logfile
