[SunHELP] Slow FTP performance

I just upgraded both my Sparc 5 systems (Solaris 7 Server) to
wuftp, and now FTP performance in incredibly slow, but previous
to upgrading, one of the machines was still slow (the other was
responsive to a normal extent).  Is there something I need to change or
tweak?  I notice even after giving up on the client side of trying to FTP,
there's still an in.ftpd thread hanging around, as if it's expecting a connection.
