Don't know about this drive, but when I attached my EXB8200 to system
running Sol8, I had to physically go into the Tape drive and change a jumper
so I could us it. Might be the same with your drive.

Subject: [SunHELP] Getting TLZ09 to work on U5

Hi All

I have an old DEC TLZ09 DDS2 tape I want to get working on my U5 which has a
X5010A SCSI controller. I can see the drive with probe-scsi-all and have
tried various mods to switch settings (it is an oem version of the Sony
SDT-7000) and to /kernel/drv/st.conf. All have failed to bring the drive in
with a boot -r.

Any ideas on what to try next?

O/S is 2.7, but willing to try 8 if that will help.

Peter
