In solaris 8 the /etc/syslog.conf file has a line like this in it. *.err;kern.notice;auth.notice /dev/sysmsg On other versions I have it's /dev/console. My message log on the solaris 8 machine doesn't appear to be catching to many messages. My question is what is sysmsg ? what would happen if I set to /dev/console ? Even though there is no console ?
