Find out, which directory under /root use many diskspace with for example
du -sk /var.

Have a look at /var/adm and /var/crash. Look for core-dumps.
Are there backups of updated packages in /var/sadm/patch or pkg ?
If yes, move the directory to a another partition
and make a softlink (ln -s) backwards.
