Is the directory that tar is dying on really long?

There is a bug in Sun's tar that prevents tar files that contain paths
over a certain length from being untarred, and the untarring process will
fail with that error.

the fix is to install the tar patch for your Solaris version from
SunSolve, or install GNU tar.
