got it working, it kept giving me "mount: I/O error" when i tried to mount it,
but fstyp whacked it into line or something cause i can mount it now.

/dev/dsk/c2d0p[0,1] is the device pcfs is the type.

works great now. that's cool. billions and billions of thanks to Greg who was
key to my figuring this out. you're one hoopy frood greg.

i've got one question though. i'm sending this out to the whole list since i
think i've stumbled upon some interesting information that i can't seem to
find again.

in my quest to get pcmcia working, i've noticed that the Admin Guide keeps
telling me to run volcheck -v to pick up the PC Card and eject pcmem0 to eject
it (unmount since it can't physically eject the card by itself although that
would be cool as hell) but vold has NO CLUE about this card.

now we get to the part where i can't find the info again. i remember seeing
instructions on how to enlighten vold to the presence of the PCMCIA card.
it involves taking the string "pccard,SunDisk,SDP,5/3_0.6" and putting it in
a config file somewhere that had matching instructions for what to do.

this file was not /etc/vold.conf (to my recollection)

does anyone at all have any clue about this? being able to use volcheck/eject
would be "more correct" than the quick mount/unmount script i just threw
together since i need to be root to run the mount scripts.

thanks!!!!!

-brian

ps: greg rules, i was really nasty to him a while ago, and he still helps me.
