It seems like a missing library and/or link :=20

Is "~ftp/bin" symbolically linked to "~ftp/usr/bin" ?
Are every needed library present in "~ftp/usr/lib" ?

To check the "ls fonctionnality" in the chrooted ~ftp tree, you can =
issue
the following command in a shell window :

chroot ~ftp /bin/ls /

Is it doesn't work, your chrooted tree isn't right.

If you can't catch the failure, could you post us the result of the
following command :

find ~ftp | xargs ls -ld
