[SunHELP] query on sendmail

(Maybe this could be added in the sendmail manpage ?).

Just add an alias for atmb1 with a dot at the end in /etc/hosts.
For instance :=20

192.168.200.5        atmb1     atmb1.



"atmb1." is a full-qualified domain name, as atmb1 is not.

	Hi, every minute I receive these messages in the /var/adm/messages
file:

	Jun 30 04:15:07 atmb1 sendmail[22307]: My unqualified host name
(atmb1)
	unknown; sleeping for retry
	Jun 30 04:15:29 atmb1 sendmail[21856]: unable to qualify my own
domain name
	(atmb1) -- using short name

	the hostname of this sun station is atmb1.
	why does the server get theses messages all the time? can I fix it?

	I am a Oracle DBA doubling up as a System administrator for a new
E450 Solaris 8 server. Am trying my best to setup the machine properly =

reading lots of books and faq's that I can put my hands on.
	Have been trying to set up sendmail - and keep getting this message
:

	sendmail[382]: [ID 702911 mail.crit] My unqualified host name
(surya) unknow
	n; sleeping for retry

	I want to know why this error comes up - I mean whats it that I can
set in sendmail.cf that will help stop this error from popping up.
Unfortunately our librarian informs that  the book "Sendmail" by =
OReilly
which we had till some time back is lost - hence am quite lost.
	Would be gald if someone can help me.(Currently downloading the
sendmail faq from sendmail.org)
