A couple of questions, are you trying to put another backup on the same tape
or do you use a new tape each time?

Because your command line: #mt -f /dev/rmt/0 fsf only moves the tape
forward some number of files. i.e. for this command line to work you need
to type mt -f /dev/rmt/0n fsf 1. The "n" keeps the tape from rewinding, the
1 moves the tape to the second file space on the tape (I believe that fsf
stands for file system forward, but not sure).
If you are out to do just a file system dump, you can use this command line
ufsdump -0ucf /dev/rmt/0n filesystem name. Additionally you will need to be
in single user mode in order to use this command line effectively.
