One thing that I forgot to mention, the file system will write-locked while
running growfs

Yes, it is possible,

If you have a mirror (d80) with two submirror (d9 and d10), you need to
metattach the slice(s) to the submirror first, then run growfs to increase
the mirror size.  

example:

# metattach d9 c0t2d0s5
# metattach d10 c0t3d0s5
# growfs -M /mountpoint /dev/md/rdsk/d80

Please read the man page for growfs for more details.

I remember certain issues, but please refresh my mind ppl..
Isn't it possible to growfs an encapsulated root filesystem with
Solstice disksuite? with a new slice from another disk.
