I just received the crucial hint:

In Linux syslog.conf, *.* as facility.level pair is
perfectly alright, with Solaris it isn't. So I needed
to identify the _actual_ leven the router is using.
Was a bit of trial'n'error, but I've got it to work.
(Hint for users of Netgear routers: Those toys throw
dead simple .info messages ;)

Logs fine now, thanks for all the help!
