Synopsis: How to disable the Power button on the keyboard (the rightmost
button on the top row of the keyboard)
OS version: Any

When the Power button on the keyboard is hit, the system goes into suspend
mode. In this mode, the system can not be operated, nor can anyone telnet to
the system. To come out of suspend mode, the Power button must be hit again.
It may be desirable to disable this feature because if the button is hit
accidentally, it takes some time to come in, and then out, of this mode.
Also, it may cause some users to panic because it looks like the system is
rebooting while recovering (although it is not).

Disabling this feature is only accessible by the root user. To disable the
button so it is non-operable, complete the following:

Open the file /usr/openwin/lib/speckeysd.map

Comment out the line below -

SunPowerSwitch - $OPENWINHOME/bin/sys-suspend

log out and log back in

Now when the Power button is hit, the message window asking if the suspend
mode is desired will not come up any more (the default button is 'suspend',
which will switch off the power) . For more information on speckeysd and
speckeysd.map, see the man pages.
