You aren't following the install instructions correctly.

Howto install a Sunfreeware package...

1. Download it.
2. gzip -d <filename.gz>
3. pkgadd -d <filename>

You are probably just typing something like
"pkgadd <filename>".

You need to tell pkgadd where you're installing the package from with the -d
switch, or it defaults to /var/spool/pkg.
