[SunHELP] problem with port-urgent!!

Listening to a port number does not require an entry in /etc/services.

Is anything listening on that port at that address? What is supposed to be
listening on that port?

Try a "netstat -an |grep 10.150.50.112" and see if that IP is listening on
1025 at all.

If you telnet to that IP and port ("telnet 10.150.50.112 1025") what do you
get?

If the port is open, you should see something similar to:

Trying 10.150.50.112...
Connected to 10.150.50.112.
Escape character is '^]'.

Hope this helps.....

hi

when i try to access a port using a browser like
netscape, it is saying the server is busy try after
sometime. it was given in the address bar as
"http://10.150.50.112:1025". this particular port 1025
was not there in the /etc/services. so we tried with
another port 5000. this port was working fine but was
not there in /etc/services. where can i find the these
ports? the machine (ultra enterprise 250) is installed
with some certification server which uses this port. i
tried "ps-ef" to see the daemon but did get a clue. it
was working fine previously but now it is not working.

expecting a solution soon
eugine
