You can also use a TZX (aka the nuclear 4-slot framebuffer), a GS (aka
cg12, slow), a GT (even slower) or an MGX+ (nicest by far for 2D but
buggy and unsupported in recent OS revs).

Support for the GS and GT was dropped after Solaris 2.4.  The TZX doesn't
buy you much over the ZX unless you have code which uses its accelerated
features.  The MGX+ is nearly as fast in 24bpp mode as the TGX is in 8bpp
and it's only a single-wide card, but active support for it has ceased.
