[Sunhelp] Copy of tape-to-tape

Hi,

I've been having unexpected trouble
copying two tapes from one tape
drive to another using the tar 
command, and wonder if there's
another command or if I'm missing
something.  The only thing I can
fathom is that the 'x' argument
does not allow output to stdout,
based on the man page, but in that
case, how does one copy one tape
to another?

This is the command I most recently 
attempted:

 tar xvf /dev/rmt/1cb - | tar cvf - /dev/rmt/3cb

Any suggestions?
