[Sunhelp] sparcstation 2, lost idprom

I have what seems to be a simple problem. I booted my Sparcstation 2
today, and got an error message:

1) the Ether net address is listed as : ff:ff:ff:fd:ff:ff ( I though
that the fd was odd)
2) the host ID address is given as: ffffffff
3) there is a message: IDPROM contents invalid

The computer will boot from a floppy drive, but it seems that both the
network card and the scsi bus are not being accessed.

I did not see any battery that would need to be changed...

Any help is greatly appreciated...
