As far as new systems go, you have a choice between the U60 and the E250.
Depending on discounts, the E250 can be quite a bit cheaper if you don't
need the graphics capability (which it sounds like you don't).  Definately
spec one out, you may save a bundle.

If you can possibly use older hardware, dual CPU Sparc 10's and 20's can
be very easily had in the sub-$1k neighborhood these days.
