All our displays are 14" so that is good I don't have any ATI video cards I
am looking around to find some to test with...

A little more detail on the swap I made is in order:

I obtained a u40 mainboard from a well known auction web site. I had a u20
with the larger 14" display and the ATI video card with the small 10 pin
connector near the back.

I placed the u40 mainboard in the u20 chassis and used the u20 video card
and entire top assembly (top plastic, keyboard, status display and 14" LCD
display assembly) from the u20.

The combination worked, the OBP (the u40 has the latest version (3.18?))
didn't seem to have any issues with the combination. It did take a long
time to boot the first time (about 3 to 5 minutes). After the initial
extended self-test boot, the system booted in normal time.

Note that the 12" display has a completely different interface than the 14"
display. I don't think the newer ATI cards from the u40 will work with the
older 12" displays.
