Alicia,

I tried what you mentioned and it worked fine, with the following caveats:
1. The ATI video card on the u40 was not compatible with the display on the
u20 machine. In fact, connecting the u20 display smoked the newer ATI card
on my machine (appeared to be the mosfet switch for the backlight or display
power).
2. Placing the older u20 ATI video card and u20 display on the u40
motherboard works, however, there may be a driver issue when updating the OS
to Solaris 10. The Tadpole drivers seem to expect the newer u40 card (the
u20 ATI cards have a small 10 pin connector by the 13w3 back connector which
connects to the motherboard, the u40 ATI cards do not have the connector).
3. Make sure the RAM cards are fully secured. Clean the connectors.
Ultrabooks are very picky about their memory.
4. After replacement and powering up, WAIT! If you get the normal flashing
icons on the small LCD status display, all is good. In my experience it
can take several minutes (seems like forever) for the system to complete
self test and the main display to come up.

Good luck.
