Fortunately for top management, the company board is usually stacked 
with the top management of other companies, who are quite happy to help 
out their golf buddies and prevent any sort of unwelcome accountability 
or true competition.

On the other hand, there's probably a lot of money to be made shorting 
the stock of clueless companies eating their seed corn.  Waiting for the 
payoff can be a problem though.
