" Hello,
"
" Below you will find what happens booting IPC SPARCstation with the
" external drive disconnected.
"
" Messages at boot are reported below:
"
" ......
" checking filesystems
" /dev/rsd0a
" /dev/rsd0a
" /dev/rsd0g
" /dev/rsd0g
"
" After a long pause system response:
"
" Can't open /dev/rsd3h
" (null): CAN'T CHECK FILE SYSTEM.
" (null): UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck
" MANUALLY.
"
" Reboot failed ... help !

next thing i'd do is try a boot -s, and if that works, reconnect
external and try boot -s again. then try fsck etc. on external.
format can also help.

it's looking like the external has failed. slice h is usually home
directories, but you might have a system-critical fs on there too...
