...but tia/eia 568b -does- specify how it's wired.
and as it happens, tia/eia -568a- swaps exactly the pair we need for a
10bt or 100bt crossover, so if it's wired 568b at one end and 568a at
the other...
not all pairs are swapped between the specs.
