I buy fans that rate highly in comparative reviews and are rated for >
100,000 hours MTBF.  They tend to be designed by German firms in a lot of
cases (I guess they take their fans seriously).  I typically end up paying
$15-$20 per fan.  I hope they have some extra protections in them. :)
