I believe 72 MHz is still legally usable for *aircraft* models only but is not
permitted for ground use. 75 MHz is reserved for ground use to avoid
cross-over interference.

Most serious flyers and for that matter now a lot of drivers use 2.4 GHz radio
for r/c now as it's auto-channel- selecting and needs no crystals. It also
doesn't go weird under electric power lines either ;)

Side note: It is widely frowned upon to use 75 MHz in the UK a as the CAA use
if for ground transponders!
