s = single user
r = reconfigure (forces the kernel to rebuild paths to drivers)
v = verbose
a = ask for root filesystem and to verify /etc/system entries

I'm thinking that the "default" root device that it thinks is root is not
valid. Use "*" to get a list, then enter the one that makes the most
sense....
