There is such a thing as criminal copyright infringement, but that's just
something that some men wrote on paper and called a "law".

Much simpler is to consider this:
         theft:    he has your thing; you have nothing.
         copying:  he has your thing; you still have your thing.

Copyright infringement is only theft if the original is destroyed in the
process.  Morality and legality are orthogonal.
