Hope this isn't too OT, but I've got an IBM p44-170 with a SCSI CDROM
drive. I'd like to upgrade it to a DVD-ROM and be able to boot off
install media with it.
I'm wondering if a Sun DVD-ROM will work in it, they're both scsi.

Do IBM pSeries AIX machines need 512 byte block optical drives like Sun
does? Or do I need 2048 byte blocks, or something else?

Do they check the manufacturer ID strings, or do they just care about
the SCSI-ID?
