Most definitely.  I picked up a used Metcal MX-500 system on eBay on the
cheap (about $350).  It's the last soldering iron I will ever need.  They
have a huge range of tips available in 100 degree steps starting at 500F for
all of their shapes.  Imagine pumping 100 watts into a tip that can never
ever ever heat above the set point of the tip.  Instant heating, no screwing
around, get the job done and done right, without risking damage to the
parts.
