| Wouldn't a desk need to have high tensile strength?  Concrete is good
| under compression but not tension.  Would you be intending to put rebar
| in the desk?

Just an idea if you build one from concrete I hope you do not need to
move the desk very far. I used 1 inch thick pressed board with wood
vinear ( like they use for kitchen counters )  for mine just had 2 of
them joined back to back to have enough dept.
