I've got the Dual 2 GHz G5 and a second-gen MacBook (2 Ghz Core2Duo),
both with 2 gigs of ram. The only thing I've really done any
benchmarking with is doing video transcoding with ffmpeg. They run
pretty close to each other on fps converted.

The main adavantage of the G5 is the tower design, wich gives it a lot
better expandability. The better graphics (GMA 950 vs GeForce FX 5200)
make it (potentially) better at other things too.

The only expandability on the Macbook is via USB2 or FireWire (not even
that on the newest model).
