    I just went through the same thing in trying to upgrade a
single-CPU V240 to a dual to better match what the load on the
box has become.  The "official word" is that it can't be done.
My response to that was, "Well, it's time then to look at
systems that don't have marketing BS built into them."  The
channel-marketer wasn't amused, to which I said that I wasn't
amused either (having seen this sort of chicanery before), and
I'm the one that makes the recommendations.

    I fully intend to look at more open systems, ones that can
be properly upgraded, but since it's getting to the point where
it's either Intel or SPARC my hand may be forced.  I am *not*
going to gleefully join the Intel monoculture.
