The O in OEM stands for "original".  The "original equipment
manufacturer" is the company that originally made the device.  In the
case of an IBM printer, that'd probably be IBM or the company IBM
contracted to construct the printer or the company that bought the IBM
printer division (Lexmark, for most printers).
