I think the only way you're gonna be able to do something like this (ie, 
a vertical-mount 9track drive) is find a PERTEC one and an appropriate 
machine with a PERTEC interface (like a MicroVAX or VME Sun box), and 
run NetBSD on it (which is a modern OS;).
