I normally upgrade the OBP of any UltraSPARC machine I get, as a matter of
course. Looking at the changelogs for the bugs fixed in newer PROMs always
convinces me that it's a Good Thing :) 

This is particularly true when running OSes other than Solaris, which is
typically quite forgiving of older PROMs. Open source OSes typically aren't
quite as forgiving because they don't have all the PROM bug workarounds
that Solaris does.
