You can get used to a flicker if you teach yourself to ignore it. I've
done that. Probably cost me a lot of strain, though.

If you're seeing a problem, it's real, no matter how many other people
tell you you're "too picky." When people make assertions like that
they usually mean "you're pickier than I am, anything that I am is
just right, so if you're not just like me you're wrong." I once had a
therapist tell me I analyzed "too much." Too much for what? For being
an engineer? A problem-solver? That was a judgement, not a
dispassionate observation.
