Wasn't there a swapout program for older (non-E) Ultra 1 boards a few 
years back (2002?) - didn't Sun replace the heatsink and fan assembly due
to the high failure rate? 

User-replaceable NVRAM batteries are another issue - perhaps they didn't
anticipate the longevity of their products :)
