Not sustained, though it should be able to do enough through the 
filesystem to keep up.  That's also assume you are using something with 
modern (S)ATA or UW or better SCSI.

Mainly I was looking for an average speed needed to feed DLT so I could 
determine if some of my older hardware can keep up.

It's old Sun stuff with narrow or FAST-20 SCSI.

If they can't keep up, I'll need to consider an upgrade for the tape 
server, which currently runs my DDS2 write-only backups... :/
