:Isn't there a program for OS-X that allows you to run Windows in an
:emulated mode, like vmware? I think it is called Virtual PC, but I

runs very slowly on the mac. she has a 400mhz cpu. would need at
least a 1.2ghz cpu to run at a reasonable speed (circa $250 with
no guarantee it will work with future os releases), plus virtual pc
at about $200, plus a release of windows (another $100).

not cost effective. a cheap headless windows tower would work,
but that still has higher costs (windows xp is the first headless
os from m$oft - must pay for that, though i have a 98se set
of cds lying around). also space is a problem. a laptop seems right
for this task.
