And by "firm pressure", I mean "at least twenty pounds".  I've found
that leaning on the heatsink (not exactly doing push-ups, but holding
myself up), with my thumbs works well.  You'll probably get 3 to 5 more
boots out of the machine if that's the problem, but eventually the XBOW
chip's solder pad will go cold entirely.

Just search for Octane and my last name on groups.google.com to find my
thread from 2001 when I dealt with this same problem.
