The answer is , "it depends".  For server-like tasks, the Sun wins,
for MP3 encoding and playing around with stuff the PC wins.

The good thing about Suns is how well supported they are.  If SGI
didn't have such a weird policy about software I would recommend you
get an SGI box instead.
