you could just change the hash to a space.

bvi should.  haven't tried though.

last thing i used bvi on was man, to turn bolding on since i use less
as my $MANPAGER.  just search for nroff, change -u0 to -u1 [or just
just spaces], and bob's your uncle!  radial segment of baked
confection...
