Because it si a "known quantity."
Because it's a "standard."
Because you can buy support for it.
Because most managers think that noone will give them shit for choosing 
it as a purchase.

And several of those things interlock and are supported buy advertising 
and public relations that border on outright lies.

Bugs me that the Navy gives MS huge amounts of money while the govt. is 
sueing them, too... *sigh*

I really like to be/go places where things just work the way they ought 
to. That's probably why I like Unix command line...
