http://www.osnews.com/story.php?news_id=5830 is a recent benchmark. It
tests the speed of gzip, openssl and mysql (no floating point code
tested). See it yourself, but the conclusion is that 32-bit code from
gcc and cc is roughly the same, gcc -m64 is sometimes slower and cc
64-bit code tends to be some percent faster than the 32-bit ones.
